In the last two years nest has been focusing in two remote villages of Modakurchi Taluk in Erode district. The incident of HIV / AIDS prevalence is more among these villagers - (information collected through a baseline survey)

Base Line Survey:
 

A baseline survey was conducted in May 07 among some villages  of the Modakuruchi taluk in Erode district.  These villages were selected from a list of BPL villages (Below Poverty Line Villages) given by the Erode Collectorate. The  two villages were so backward that they lacked in all basic amenities such as lack of street lights, no electricity in most part of the village, no proper road, no proper transportation facility (just one bus service in the morning and one in the evening), not even a name board for the village. It was Nest organization that laid down 2 stones at the entrance of the villages which bore the names of the villages  respectively. A survey was conducted to find out the socio-economic conditions of people living in the three villages. Through the survey, the health status, prevelance of HIV AIDS disease, no of school dropouts, reasons for dropouts, and economic conditions was reported.  The survey also formed a tool for enumerating the total number of families in each village.    Based on results of the survey the felt need of the community was analyzed and the following activities and programmes were organized.
